How To Search
Start your search by choosing a CO2 emissions band, or by entering your own minimum and maximum CO2 values.
You do not need to make every selection.
Once you have selected the details you want to use, click the Search button to see the results.
For example, you can search for all cars with zero CO2 emissions (e.g. electric cars), or narrow the results to electric cars from a specific manufacturer.
You can also combine the emissions search with other practical filters such as fuel type, gearbox, body style, number of seats, manufacturer and model range.
CO2 Emissions Search
CO2 emissions are normally shown in grams per kilometre, often written as g/km.
CO2 is important because it can affect company car Benefit-in-Kind tax, Vehicle Excise Duty and business fleet emissions reporting.
Electric cars normally appear in the zero CO2 band because they produce no tailpipe CO2 emissions while being driven.
Petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles usually produce tailpipe CO2 emissions. The amount shown depends on the official vehicle data and the test procedure used for that vehicle.
Plug-In Hybrid Cars
Plug-in hybrid cars can have low official CO2 figures because the test cycle assumes that part of the journey is completed using electric power.
In real use, plug-in hybrid emissions can vary significantly depending on how often the vehicle is charged and how much of each journey is completed using electric power.
This is why DriveSmart shows plug-in hybrid fuel messages where relevant.
Using The Filters
The Fuel Type filter can help you compare petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric cars.
The Gearbox filter lets you choose between manual and automatic cars where this data is available.
The Body Style and Seats filters can help narrow the results to vehicles that meet practical requirements.
The Made by and From filters allow you to narrow the search to a specific manufacturer and model range.
Search Results
Once the search results appear you can sort the table by clicking the column headings.
Large searches are normally displayed over several pages. You can change the display setting at the top of the page to show more results or all results.
The table includes core vehicle information such as manufacturer, model range, derivative, fuel type, gearbox, body style, seats, CO2 emissions, list price and on-the-road price.
The capital allowance information shown is indicative and is based on the emissions and fuel information held in the vehicle data. Tax treatment should always be checked before making decisions.
